Seeking Colours Youth Project is a youth-focused initiative supporting rangatahi aged 12–24 to discover their strengths, explore their passions, and build confidence in their identity and future.
Our kaupapa is to empower young people to recognise their potential and develop the skills they need to thrive in education, employment, and life.
We focus on early intervention, supporting rangatahi at a stage where they begin exploring the world around them and making important decisions about their future. Through guidance and practical support, we help young people navigate key life steps such as applying for StudyLink, scholarships, and grants, obtaining important documents like birth certificates, opening bank accounts, creating Curriculum vitaes and getting their driver's licenses.
To see rangatahi empowered, confident in their identity, and connected to positive pathways, and actively pursuing interests that allow them to thrive and lead within their communities.
We empower youth aged 12–18 to identify their skills, explore their passions, and create their own identities to achieve their potential.
Our service is rangatahi-led, placing young people at the forefront of planning their futures and supporting them to navigate the pathways that will help them achieve their goals. We work intergrated with other organisations and services to ensure our rangatahi are receiving wrap around support. We believe that supporting rangatahi means supporting the whole person and their whānau. Wrapping support around the entire family to ensure that our rangatahi are nurtured in their community and at home. Through mentoring, advocacy, leadership opportunities, and connection to pathways, we help young people develop confidence, resilience, and direction.
Our approach is grounded in values of:
Whanaungatanga – building strong relationships
Manaakitanga – supporting and uplifting others
Rangatiratanga – encouraging leadership and self-determination
Our rangatahi play an active role in shaping the project. Leadership wānanga provide opportunities for youth to plan and deliver activities, develop leadership skills, and showcase their strengths to their families and friends.
