Empowering our youth to shine in every shade of life
The Choose Your Shade Pilot Programme is a 9 week youth-focused initiative designed to support rangatahi (youth) aged 12 - 18 in discovering their strengths, exploring their passions, and building confidence in their identity and future. Through leadership activities, practical support, personal advocates and goal planning, participants are encouraged to navigate key life steps, develop essential skills, and prepare for success in education, employment, and life.
Minis Area (Aged 12–14 / Year 6–8)
Interactive workshops, mentoring, and practical experiences help rangatahi explore strengths, build confidence, and develop key life skills.
Focus Areas:
Strengths & Passions – discover what excites and motivates them
Goals & Decision-Making – set achievable goals and make thoughtful choices
Emotions & Resilience – understand and manage big feelings
Leadership & Teamwork – build confidence and collaboration skills
Creative Expression – explore through art, drama, or writing
Life Skills & Community – basic budgeting, projects, and connection to others
Sprouting Area (Aged 17–18 / Year 13)
Building on Minis, this stream focuses on leadership, personal growth, and preparing for future pathways.
Focus Areas:
Strengths & Passions – explore career and personal interests
Goals & Planning – prepare for study, work, and personal growth
Emotional Intelligence – manage stress and develop resilience
Leadership & Projects – lead initiatives and mentor younger peers
Identity & Confidence – strengthen self-esteem and cultural identity
Practical Skills & Community – budgeting, CVs, job application processes, interviewing, scholarship applications, volunteering, and life-ready skills
Support & Referrals: (Both Areas)
One-on-One Sessions – optional mentoring for personal goals or challenges
Referral Pathways – access trusted services like counselling or mental health support when needed
